I tried Google-ing this a million times, but found nothing. So, after much struggle of trying to figure it out myself, I got it. Here’s what needs to be done so you can avoid the hassle I went through (theoretically):
1. Have an Xbox 360, an ethernet cable, and a Windows 7 laptop ready to use (at least, this is how I did it)
2. Connect the laptop to UofM Secure. NOT the guest one. Make sure you do the Secure one.
3. Go ahead and hook up your ethernet cable to your Xbox and laptop.
4. Click Start on the laptop
5. In the Search programs and files box, type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.
6.Click on the Secure connection you just made
7. While holding CTRL on your keyboard, press the wired connection (that should be the xbox).
8. Right click now on one of the two things you highlighted and click “Bridge Connections.”
9. A new “Network Bridge” should have appeared.
10. Go to your Xbox 360’s Connection Settings (found from “My Xbox,” “System Settings,” then “Network Settings.”)
11. Select the Wired Network.
12. Make sure everything is cleared and/or automatic and then test the Xbox Live Connection.
13. Enjoy the magic of the internet and Xbox Live!
(Much thanks goes out to xbox.com)
(Also, for those worrying that this might violate some internet contract thingy, it states on resnet.umn.edu that “Residents can […] connect a gaming console through the user’s computer (Internet Connection Sharing, etc.).”
(Also also, please note this may slow down your computer while it’s going on. It’s that, or something else is slowing my computer.)
